WEIGHT OF WORDS

This piece highlights the crow, a bird often misunderstood and burdened with dark symbolism and deeply rooted collective judgments. Here, its calm and lucid gaze challenges these perceptions, inviting a more nuanced, more human reading. The integration of a deliberately sharp recycled metal element acts as a metaphor. It evokes the impact of words—those quick judgments we project onto both animals and people—which can wound, leave marks, and create invisible yet very real scars. Mounted on reclaimed materials, including fragments of wood and transformed metal, the piece is grounded in a process of revaluation: giving a second life to what is discarded, much like restoring dignity to what is too often misunderstood. Balancing strength and vulnerability, Crow invites us to question our perspective. What if what we perceive as dark is, in fact, a reflection of our own projections?
