THE CURIOUS
This work captures the moment when the wild world seems to look back at us. A pheasant stands still within it—attentive, almost human in its posture. Its gaze carries an immediate, instinctive curiosity, like the feeling of receiving a letter or a package and wanting to discover its contents without delay. A simple, universal gesture… here embodied by the animal. The photograph required patience and silence, several hours of waiting to capture that fragile moment when the pheasant chooses to remain present, without fleeing. The composition is made from reclaimed coastal wood, shaped by the sea and time, along with an old letterbox piece found on the shoreline, rolled and marked by passage. Integrated into the piece, it becomes a trace of forgotten communication, a link between place, memory, and discovery. The vibrant colors of the plumage contrast with the raw textures of wood and metal, creating a tension between brilliance and wear. The Curious becomes a meeting point between instinct, anticipation, and the human traces left by time.
