Beyond Measure

In nature, as in life, balance is never perfectly straight. A great blue heron stands in balance on its long legs, poised between stillness and movement, patience and instinct. Around it, fragments of materials that have lived another life come together: a carpenter’s square, a firewood grate, and pieces of driftwood shaped by the tides of Pointe-Sapin'shore in New Brunswick. The square, a symbol of measure and precision, contrasts with the free and unpredictable forms of nature. It reminds us that balance is not a perfect line to be reached, but something we constantly adjust, seek, and reinvent. Because, in the end, the balance of a life is not measured in right angles, but in our ability to find our rightful place.
